I have always loved art and colour. I am also very analytical, studying aeronautical engineering at Bristol University and initally following a career in IT where I designed software.
More recently I have developed a love of glass; this has enabled me to combine my creative and technical abilities in seemingly limitless ways. A postgraduate course in Glass and Architecture at Central Saint Martins expanded my understanding of and skills with a very complex media and I now work in fused and stained glass to produce windows, sculptures and wall-hung artwork.
Much of my work has a textural element to it and I am also interested in using light to add something dynamic. My inspiration comes from natural themes. I particularly enjoy being able to combine shapes and textures in different layers, to draw the observer into the work and to give a sense of depth and interest, perhaps of things hidden.

Paul Stillwell's preview evening was extremely well attended last night. It was an absolute pleasure to meet such a talented Artist and wonderful person. Paul took time to spend with everyone, chatting and telling stories of his ventures of meeting the stars who have signed his amazing pieces of art. I look forward to meeting him again while he is exhibiting his portraits of the stars at b Gallery during the next month ~ Beverley
