Bliss Studio Textiles - Linda Blissett

Image
I am a textile designer, specialising in woven fabrics. I completed my HND in Fashion & Textiles at Basingstoke before studying Constructed Textiles at Middlesex University (BA hons) Currently I am based at Wimbledon Art Studios.
I endeavour to create unique pieces of wearable art, (scarves, wraps and bags). Each design is an individual work intended to create distinctive piece by composing a mood or texture in fabric. No two will be identical, although themes flow from one work to another.

My influences are the style of the Art Nouveau era, particularly artists such as Mucha, Klimt, Jessie M King, Margaret McDonald( Glasgow Girls), Celtic mythology and the nature of the British Isles; from Autumnal woodlands, insect wings and tree bark to the patterns of seaweed against rocks left by the outgoing tide.

My work incorporates a variety of media from silks, luxury wool fibres, cashmere, mohair,to metallic yarns, ribbons vintage lace, velvets and satins. With occassional hand embroidered beading (as inspiration dictates)
