Angela tells us in her own words about her art:
I am a painter and art teacher and I deliver art lessons and workshops to children and adults, with several years experience of teaching art in secondary school.
My specialism is painting landscapes and flowers in acrylics. I find this exciting medium suits my expressive style. Sometimes I paint with oils, sometimes mixed media and collage in order to experiment more.
My work is formed by a close observation of nature and is figurative with a strong sense of expression. Drawing is integral to my work and I make numerous sketches and colour studies before creating my painting. I am happiest when painting outdoors and this is when I feel truly connected with the landscape. I paint on site in all weather conditions as this is the best way to observe the weather and experience the mood. I have several sites which I visit time and time again in the New Forest and around the Wiltshire/Dorset downs, and through observation over time I have evolved a deep connection with the spirit of these places which I hope I bring to my paintings.
I am interested in the journey towards Abstraction and enjoy pushing some of my draft paintings and sketches to become as simplistic and expressive as I can so that they are verging on the Abstract.
