b Gallery Statement.

I have been alerted by bgallery members that they have received promotional emails from artistsinfo direct to their inbox. I have read with surprise an ‘interview’ and can confirm that there are a lot of untruths and make believe in it, and a lot of ‘borrowed’ statements too! I think it is appalling and shows the shallowness and lack of common decency from this new art directory who has used bgallery and its very good name along with its artists in an unsubstantial marketing campaign. The interview is terribly flawed throughout and comes across as quite ridiculous, however it is now in the hands of my legal team as I do not believe this kind of practice should be tolerated..

Mohsen (Mo) Rifaat was born in Egypt and has resided in Canada since 1968. 

He holds degrees in architecture and urban planning, and has enjoyed a wide ranging career takening him to many far-away places.  Although his professional life was mostly in the  business, government and diplomatic worlds,  Mo has never been long removed from his love of art, which was inherited from his late mother, Fatma Rifaat, the celebrated Egyptian artist.

In recent years he specialized in watercolour renderings ranging from buildings and structures, to still life, figure painting and landscapes. He holds regular beginner and advanced pencil drawing and watercolour workshops and work was exhibited in galleries in Egypt, Canada and England.

I have been an artist since I was about 5 years’ old. When I was about 12 years’ old I went to see The Horses Mouth at the cinema, the work of John Bratby has remained an inspiration.
On leaving school I studied design at Brighton Art College from 1960 to 1964 and left with the National Diploma in Design.
As a designer I have produced a variety of work over the years, the consistent customer for over 30 years’ has been the conservation profession.

Visual interest – the nude, bits of seaweed, old logs, plants, trees, stone, beach pebbles, animals that sit still, water, anything God created. More particularly the common factors, the shapes, the colours.

Gillian Flack - b Gallery

Painting has always been a large part of Gillian's life – although originally she trained and worked as an occupational therapist in London. Influenced through instruction by Edward Wesson and Oliver Warman, she exhibits regularly in London at the ROI as well as in the provinces – accepting commissions both in the UK and abroad. Gillian is a member of the Hertfordshire Visual Arts Forum, the Biggleswade Art Society and the Eagle Gallery in Bedford where she regularly exhibit.

Gillian's work is figurative and mainly landscapes. She works on site to capture the changing light and mood of the scene and is  inspired by the effects of light and the shapes that this creates on canvas. Much of her work is inspired by her surroundings in East Bedfordshire, but the opportunities presented by her frequent travels in Europe and beyond have given her the chance to adjust her palette and present the variations in light and topography so different from an English environment.
