Karen Davies ~ Stained Glass Artist

My business, designing and making stained glass, began twelve years ago when I undertook a course to learn how to repair the stained glass in our "new" Edwardian home. Soon I was making windows for friends and neighbours.

In my work I employ both traditional leading and glass painting and firing techniques, using my kiln.

I also practise the copper-foiling methods devised by Tiffany for his windows.

in 2003, I started making a range of glass decorative items: for example mirrors, hearts, angels and tealight holders as well as Christmas items such as stars, trees and robins.

This side of my business has become an increasingly large part of my work, with interest coming from many sources. I exhibit at shows and fairs.

I try to use very beautiful glass in my products, sometimes even incorporating antique glass.

Jill York at b Gallery art directory

Jill_york

For many years I have restored oil paintings and frames for W F Gadsby, the art shop in Leicester and painted on a commission basis portraits and animals with an emphasis on horses; and loved every minute of it! I have derived great pleasure from my client's reactions to my paintings, many of whom have returned on a regular basis.

The fascination of movement, sensuality and colour engages the viewer, some of which hopefully I have captured in my dance paintings. This is a new direction, allowing me to experiment in a more painterly way using all things "oily and messy" in my quest to advance my love of figurative paintings.

b Gallery art directory exhibiting Ann Coombes art around the world

In 1958 Ann trained at Rochdale School of Art – she became acquainted with the artist Lowrie, a friend of the Principals, who attended many lectures and life classes.

Later Ann moved into the caring profession as a nurse, midwife and health visitor. She was a health visitor in South and Mid-Bedfordshire until she retired in 2005. The nurturing aspect of her nature is apparent in many of her paintings.

Ann held an exhibition in Bedford where nineteen paintings were sold and attracted both local radio and television media interest.

In January 2011 Ann will be attending a residential course in ICON painting using egg tempora on a wooden base.

To see more of Anne's work and have the opportunity to purchase it direct from the artist herself ~ Please click on the link below where you will be taken to Anne's own exhibition area at b Gallery art directory ~ Thank you
